Macha, Zambia
In August 2019, I participated on an AROMA mixed trip to Zambia. The trip consisted of male and female students, both athletes and non-athletes, who have a passion for sports ministry. The trip is an opportunity to participate in a global church visit to support and encourage our sports ministry partners across the world. My team spend a week in the town of Macha, Zambia. While we were in this community, we taught American sports to youth, engaged in conversation, and handed out Sawyer Water Filters to the community. Through my time in Zambia, I gained a global perspective and was educated on my privilege through the "Helping without Hurting" video series.
Dominican Republic
In January 2017, I went on a week-long mission trip to the Dominican Republic with FCA. This trip was my first experience in another country. While I was there, I learned how to engage with people who are different than me and treat other cultures with respect. While we were there, we visited villages, encouraged the staff, led Vacation Bible School, taught children games and assisted the local community in building a school for the deaf.
Spain & Morocco
In May 2020, I will be traveling to Spain for an education 3-week traveling course with Messiah College. While in Spain, I will be interacting with diverse historical confluence of cultures, stunning architecture, distinctive religious traditions, Spanish language, and rich culinary delights. During my class, we will learn Islam and Arabic from Moroccan teachers in the World Unite! organization. From Madrid and Toledo, to Cordoba and Seville, on to Granada and Malaga, toward Gibraltar, Cadiz, and Tangier, our class will immerse ourselves in the fullness of southern Spain, its language, its religions, its arts, and its vibrant cultural heritage. This course will count as my third language credit, a requirement at Messiah College.
